周村地处鲁中,东接大海,西连泰山,被誉为海岱明珠.殷商时为於陵侯国,是北方重要商业城市.历来文人荟萃,号称“天下第一村”.为全面展示齐鲁历史文化风貌和文物精品,进行传统文化和爱国主义教育,在省,市,区各级政府和著名专家的支持下,于2004年金秋9月,周村开埠百年庆典之日,建立了山东第一家艺术博物馆.
淄博艺术博物馆馆址设在周村著名景点“望月楼”.是藏品丰富,展出水平高,具有地方特色的博物馆,现有展览面积2000余平方米,工作人员30余名,馆藏文物数千件,馆内环境优美,殿宇宏伟,文物珍品琳琅满目.
该馆固定展厅有：陶瓷,石刻,铜器,造像,书画,古玉器,杂项七个展厅.藏品中不乏有国家级文物,也有罕见的明代大型铜佛座像,佛祖盘膝而坐,形态端庄慈祥；有鱼化龙瓷花瓶,上绘八仙和腾龙图案,龙鳞用纯金绘成,是清代皇家用品；还有在普通博物馆难以见到的金缕玉衣；以及价值不菲的清代早期釉里红天球瓶；及异地均未发现的具有较高研究价值的战国青铜器孤品.馆内还展出有历代名人真迹,这些珍品生动地展现了我们中华民族开拓文明的艰难足迹和重大贡献.辅助陈列室主要举办各类书画,摄影,工艺品等专题性展览.
