instead of和 rather than 都可以用.但instead就不可以了.
instead后面接的是句子,如果后面是名词或短语的话就只能用instead of
要填什么就要看你想这句子是什么意思了：
“我的笔友会说法语而不是英语”时就用instead of 和rather than
“除了英语,我的笔友还会说法语”就用besides
因为后面是English,它是名词,所以这里不能用instead
