Smoking is not a good habit,either for the individual smoker or for society as a whole.
First of all,smoking is not healthy,leading to more deaths than any other preventable cause.Smokers live about 14 years less than normal people.Babies whose mothers smoked during pregnancy are often born with defects.Smoking also causes cancer,damages organs,and weakens the immune system.
In addition,smoking can also harm those nearby,in terms of second-hand smoke.Health care expenses raised by the consumption of tobacco creates a social cost on everyone as well.
The main chemical in tobacco,nicotine,is addictive,so quitting can be hard.It would have been best to never started smoking at all.Still,for smokers,quitting is still the wisest choice.Excise taxes are imposed on tobacco,and employment and health care favor non-smokers,precisely because smoking is bad for everyone.

On every cigarette case, government enforce manufaturers printing a sentence on it, which is 'Smoking is harmful to health.' I absolutely agree with such kind of behaviors, first reason is that smoking is a bad habbit. People are addicted in smoking, so that they don't care much about others.
Second reason is that smoking is not only harmful to smoker's healt, but also harmful to the people around you. They are so called 'second hand'smokers.Due to the reason I mentioned above, I want to persuade those smokers in my school to give up this bad habbit, and then it will hand a healthy world back to you.

Smoking is now forbidden by many public places, and is widely suggested to be quit. But why?
First, as is known to all that smoking cigarettes does great harm to people’s health. It not only increases the probability of all kinds of cancer, especially lung cancer. People who smoke also have high risk of cardiovascular diseases, for example atherosclerosis. It is obviously not good for the smokers themselves. People usually ignore that smoking does more harm to people around. That is second-hand smokers. They are the real victims, because all of these are not their wishes.
Another reason is that it is a waste of social resources. Although it increases the tax of a country but it costs more money to deal with the problems it causes. For example sometimes people who smoke cause a fire because of carelessness. You can imagine the result of a fire.
What’s more, once you start smoking, it is difficult to give up it, and it is easily to restart.
Personally, it costs plenty of money to buy cigarettes.
People know the bad sides of smoking quite clearly. But still they are willing to accept cigarettes. Here are some reasons:
It is the symbol of grown-ups. It seems to some youths that it is cool to smoke. That is why smoking is popular among the youth.
It can help to relax, to release the pressure from work or life. This is often seen from people who run a big company or who has great power. That is why smoking is prevalent among the middle-age.
I think to solve this problem; we should pay more attention to the education of smoking. We should tell people the right attitude of maturation, the right way to release pressure. There are many other ways to relax.
