你不用明白意思啊.光从结构分析就知道结果了. 你看原文： which can lead to , lead to 的意思是导致, 变成. 题目中的become 也是 这个意思,所以只要填lead to 后面的名词就可以了.
这里考的是雅思常考的同义词替换. 在阅读里出现很多.
好吧,下面的人回答的都比我长,让我也想加长一下. 好歹我雅思阅读也有7 分,个人认为没必要像楼下那样想那么多.考试的时间很紧,而且一般来说雅思阅读填的是原文的内容,不用做时态、单复数之间的转换.
1. become = 原文中的 lead to
2. 原文中的意思是： 能导致泥泞的状态很长一段时间（周期）， 而题目中的意思是： 变成什么什么由于压紧
3. 题目中是否要求 ONLY ONE WORD 啊。。。。
根据题目，become在此是不及物动词（也可称为系动词），意为“变得”，所以后跟形容词，因为强调的是动态变化。同样是不及物动词，当它意为“成为”，则倾向于强调结果。e.g.She became a famous dancer.
P.S. 雅思阅读比较灵活。尤其是这种填空式的，多要注意时态、三单等，还有一点就是要注意原文的前后搭配，再对比题目中的已给部分。其实这种题型，坦白说，凭实战经验个人...

P.S. 雅思阅读比较灵活。尤其是这种填空式的，多要注意时态、三单等，还有一点就是要注意原文的前后搭配，再对比题目中的已给部分。其实这种题型，坦白说，凭实战经验个人觉得大部分都不会是直接照搬原文中的词，或多或少有变动。但这种题型最大的好处就是好定位。
